-Inside Lacrosse reported on Team 91 conducting a toy drive for the Association for the Help of Retarded Children, which included Sean Chamberlain '07 and Jim Astea '07.  Chamberlain, the event organizer, said: "We used to come here and volunteer when I was a member of the Stony Brook University Lacrosse team and it was one of the most rewarding things we did all year. When I became involved with youth sports, it seemed a perfect fit to bring back the volunteer work and have some of the staff and players come and visit the kids at the AHRC… I mean, it’s all about the kids." http://insidelacrosse.com/news/2012/12/20/team-91-spreads-holiday-cheer-ahrc

-SB Athletics reported that columnist Phil Steele has named RB Miguel Maysonet to the FCS All America Team.  Maysonet was also chosen by the College Football Performance Awards as its All-Purpose Performer of the Year. http://www.goseawolves.org/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/122612aaa.html


RB Miguel Maysonet earned All America honors from six organizations this season after rushing for 1,964 yards, the 11th most yards in a season in FCS history.  

RT Michael Bamiro and WR Kevin Norrell were named to Phil Steele's Second Team All America.

-Connor Wilson of Lax All Stars commented on the 2013 MLL Supplemental draft, stating that Kyle Moeller '12 is a "Stony Brook pole with handle" and Rhys Duch '08 is a "Canadian All Star." http://laxallstars.com/2013-major-league-lacrosse-supplemental-draft/ 



Wilson remarked that Tom Compitello '11 is "stout LI style attackman... a baller"; 


-Inside Lacrosse staff debated the recent MLL Supplemental Draft picks, with John Jiloty stating that Rhys Duch '08 of the Hamilton Nationals: "can clearly score. Rhys Duch '08 appeared in the last seven games for the Nationals in 2012, scoring 7G, 6A.

-Corey McLaughlin of Lacrosse Magazine listed the 2012 MLL Supplemental Draft, in which the following alums were drafted:

Tom Compitello '11 was named All America in 2010 after scoring 35G, 37A and leading the Seawolves to the brink of a final four berth.




Kyle Moeller '12 captained SB Lacrosse and lead the team in caused turnovers for two consecutive seasons.

Picked in the second round a year ago, Jordan McBride '11 recorded 10G, 10A in 11 games as a rookie with the Mammoth.


-Corey McLaughlin of Lacrosse Magazine reported in September on the Capital Lacrosse Classic, where tryouts were held for the 2014 US Men's National Team.  SB alums Adam Rand '11 and Steve Waldeck '10 were invited to try out to represent the US: http://www.laxmagazine.com/teamusa/men/2012-13/news/092812_us_staff_to_eveluate_52_players_at_capital_lacrosse_classic

Rhys Duch '08, shown above playing in the MLL, has totalled 392 points and 373 loose balls in only three seasons in the NLL with the Washington Stealth.


-Casey Vock and Zach Babo of Inside Lacrosse counted down the best fifteen stories of 2012, and wrote about the proliferation of Canadian talent in the NCAA.  Specifically, they noted that Kevin Crowley '11 is "one of the most athletic Canadian college lacrosse players in recent years", for which Crowley attributed to his strength and conditioning regiment at SB: http://insidelacrosse.com/news/2012/12/06/ils-biggest-15-oh-canada

The article also listed Canadians that will likely have an impact in 2013 in the NCAA, including JJ Laforet '13, Brody Eastwood '16, Challen Rogers '16, and Jay Lindsay '16.



Kevin Crowley '11 said of his weight training at SB: "Now I tell kids at home [in British Columbia] that their opponents for scholarship opportunities are in the weight room and working on conditioning.  If they want to compete, they have to do the same".

-SB Lacrosse has initiated a fundraiser whereby alumni may contribute to the program in installments and receive a locker dedication in the varsity locker room.  Alumni can now commemorate their name and year or dedicate a locker as part of the proud tradition of SB Lacrosse.

The fundraising campaign will enhance the best locker room in the America East and provide the program with the resources to continue the success it has enjoyed in recent years, including three consecutive regular season AE titles, two Tournament Crowns, and two NCAA Tournament appearances in the last three seasons.  Thirty eight player lockers are available to be named by an individual or a group for $2,500 (over two years or less) each on a first-come, first-served basis.

Miguel Maysonet, a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, finished his career with 5,110 yards and 51 touchdowns, despite averaging only 16 carries per game.
